Jacob and I went to Linda Mar at 7am before work and rode head to shoulder high glassy surf. 

At first, Jacob really wanted to go into the north end where the surf was much bigger and I agreed. I wish I hadn't since they were giant close outs that clobbered me. Jacob caught a really good one on the north end and then met up with me in the middle section. The swell is still pretty big out there, but at LM it was not bouncy and shifty, but held up and had nice shoulders.

Jacob's parent's invited us to go skiing with them in Jackson Hole, WY over MLK weekend. We have been snowboarding a lot more on the mountain, but it was really good to get back to skiing. Jacob and I learned how to ski when we were very young, I was 6 and Jacob was 10. We learned how to snowboard in college together.

After a 5 day hiatus from surfing, due to awesome powder skiing in Jackson Hole, WY and too much work to do yesterday, I was able to get back into the water today. The wind was howling at 6am this morning and the ocean was angry everywhere except the Jetty. 

Jacob and I met up with Luke and Darren. Darren describes the surf perfectly, "…shifty, angry, windy peaks in HMB" The tide was really high and waves were bouncing off the Jetty, but it was definitely the most protected place from the wind.

I am still learning how to navigate the Jetty when it is bouncy and shifty. I caught a fun overhead wave (probably head high on a 6'0 person), a chest high wave and tumbled over a wave. I tried for others, but would get bounced back off of it due to the backwash from the Jetty.

Luke caught the best wave of the day. It was a fast and long right head high wave shooting out at the end of the wave. He was really stoked and I am sure it made his day.

Lately, I have been dreaming about that magical surf session that Jacob, Ed (Jacob's old boss) and I had in Nahant, MA. The waves were clean, glassy, sparkling and head high on a perfect Fall day in New England. I hope that California will have more days like that and not as shifty and bouncy as today.

Yesterday, I received a bunch of lino blocks and will start doing lino block prints on t-shirts. Look out for a new line of t-shirts and design choices that are coming out (I will write more on this later).

Tracey, Chris, Jacob and I met early in the morning at LM and it was flat as a lake. We drove down the coast, walked to a cliff and found that Montara had some nice left head high peelers (some were over head on me because I am short).

Jacob and I had never surfed here before. We drive by it all the time and it often looks heavy and intense. Waves were holding up nicely and we all dropped in on a lot of fast waves. I am glad we drove just a little further south for a fun filled surf session.

Jacob and I checked the pier this morning. The swell period was very short, choppy and the waves were coming in at a weird angle. At times, there was some nice shoulders. We decided not to go out so I dropped Jacob off at the train and I checked down the coast and ended up at Linda Mar.

The north end had some nice waist high rights. I wish I had my long board, but I had Beth's hybrid. I paddled for some that I definitely could have caught on my long board but the hybrid was just not dropping in. I caught a ton of waves and met a really nice guy named John. He was riding a 9'6 Pearson Arrow. He was catching a ton on his nice long board.

I was really hesitant to go out because the waves looked pretty small, but it turned out to be a lot of fun and a beautiful sunny session.
